I was on vacation and it was amazing. Carlos leaves for work in a little bit and we wanted to make sure we got some quality time together before he leaves. I completely unplugged. I checked my email every 2 days, I barely called or texted anyone. It was great. So I have been MIA.
I didn’t have to cook dinner, or walk dogs, I was completely free and it felt great! Wanna know what else is funny? I missed it! There truly is no place like home and I love taking care of my boys. I couldn’t wait to get home and cook dinner while Aviry does his homework in the kitchen. I couldn’t wait to play with the dogs! I couldn’t wait to do laundry! ( Thats a lie). But seriously thats one of the beauties of vacation. The chance to rejuvenate your mind and body, and put things into perspective. Carlos and I were also able to really connect and just focus on one another. It truly was a great time.
It wanted to share why this vacation was so amazing and why it was so positive for our relationship.
Carlos grew up in Vegas so we were able to spend time with his entire family. They are so welcoming and wonderful. It truly is a blessing to be able to see how much he is loved and to see how much he loves his family.
California was absolutely breath taking! Carlos rented a car and (bless his heart) drove all the way from Vegas to California! It was such a beautiful and relaxing drive. We arrive at this beautiful beach house!!!!
Malibu! Day 2
The ocean was literally at the back door it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! We ate good food, met amazing people, and had a great time.
I have to take some time and really spend a moment on Carlos and how much he thinks about me how much he truly knows me. Vacations can either make or break relationships I think this vacation definitely helped solidify ours.
I really do appreciate how much Carlos takes time to take us on an adventure. He loves to go places we have never been and do things we have never done. I love that about him. If it means he’s going to be up all night on the internet coming up with all the things we should do he will do that. If it means we are hopping in three different Uber’s just to try and find the best place to get chicken at 2 o’clock in the morning that is what we will do! If it means driving an hour to get the worlds largest crab legs then that’s what we’ll do! I love how much fun I have with him. Carlos will make friends with anyone he meets. I love how he doesn’t hold back his ability to make connections. His personality always enhances our vacations. Because of his personality we were able to get discounts on rental cars, hotel room upgrades and we even had a few drinks on the house at a few places we went.
Love can be scary. Especially today. I feel very fortunate and very blessed that I have a partner who knows me so well and truly cares about me I don’t know what the future holds but I do know that my future has Carlos in it.
Without this amazing vacation who knows when Carlos and I would have had some time to unwind. It’s unfortunate because millennial’s get such a bad rap for the quality of our relationships. We spend so much time grinding we can forget to work on our relationships or even ourselves. Our vacation really pointed out the fact that I / we don’t ever really slow down even when we think were slowing down were really not.
Millennial’s don’t have it the same as previous generations.
I urge all of my millennial parents and non-parents to really take some time to slow down! It’s the same rat race and if it means that I can feel a little bit more strongly about love and the man who I know is my soulmate then it means I need to slow down. If it means that I hear Aviry’s laugh a little more clearly than I will slow down.
I honestly don’t know how long it would’ve been for Carlos and I to have moments together with us to just be still and not have to worry about the various day to day stuff.. I am so thankful for this trip because it showed us the importance of taking time to slow down each and every day. I feel guilty when I am not doing something. I believe its an after effect of having Aviry young and not ever wanting to be a “bad mom”. I call bull. Aviry needs me to slow down! Its better for everyone that way.
I do know that I am now officially making it a priority to slow down and not feel guilty about it. If it means to take a 10 minute break or if it means to shut down for a day. I will make it a priority to slow down.
So if you catch me out and about running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Please guide me to a chair, hand me a cup of tea and play me sounds of the ocean.
I have grown up acne, it sucks. About once a month I will get a hideous pimple that seems to leave a mark even if I don’t attempt to annihalate it with an extraction tool. (Which I sometimes do) : (
Hyper-pigmentation is such an a huge problem for me! I have always enjoyed having relatively clear skin, but the last few months have proven challenging. Adult acne is real y’all and its a mutha#$&!
I have been doing some research into adult acne and hyper-pigmentation and here is what I am doing to battle it. I will include some before and after photos and will also be posting progress pictures to my instagram!
Hyper-pigmentation is is a common, usually harmless condition in which patches of skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.
I hate it! Especially because I have gone my entire life with fairly clear skin. So I have NO PATIENCE FOR PIMPLES!
I have begun compiling what works for me and what can help for anyone who wants to achieve clear skin!
So lets raise our glasses to clear skin…
I have begun my research into this pesky skin problem and my mom actually led me to try Maracuja Oil. Which you can find on amazon here. Maracuja is a word that comes from the Amazon region of the world and refers to the passion fruit as it’s typically extracted from either the seeds of the fruit or from passion flowers, an exotic, beautiful flower that offers a host of health benefits.
Anti-tussive: It’s an effective cough suppressant.
Anti-asthmatic: It can reduce the symptoms of asthma and bronchial spasms.
Anxiolytic: It can help relieve the symptoms of anxiety.
While researching maracura oil I was so surprised to read of the oils many benefits. I began using maracuja oil after my mom told me how soft her skin felt and how she noticed a decrease in her fine lines and wrinkles.
I have been using Maracuja oil nightly on my skin for about 3 weeks and have noticed some fading of acne scars. Although I may cut down to 3-4 nights a week because my out breaks have remained the same.
Below are some progress photos.
Here is a photo taken today about 3 weeks later. ( Today)I would definitely say the maracuja oil is fading the hyper-pigmentation on my face. Which is great! The one downside for me, although it does not hurt my adult acne, it doesn’t help it either. I wish I saw an improvement in that area.
Vitamin C Serum.
Which I just started using. I haven’t really noticed a difference, I have began applying the Vitamin C oil under my make up. It has only been a week but I will keep you all posted!!
Exfoliating is important because it helps to get rid of dead skin cells and helps promote the growth of new skin cells. Although exfoliating is not needed daily! Too much exfoliation can lead to more breakouts.
Facials and Masks.
I always love a good at home facial. I am obsessed with the Clay Masks by Loreal. They work extremely well and are not too expensive.
Look at it go to town cleaning my pores!! I use a face mask about once or twice a week. I alternate between a variety of mask. But I try to do a clay mask and then a moisturizing mask about 2 days later. I often get comments on how young I look for my age. Which is always so flattering, but I would love to stay pimple free!
I have seen results and next hope to be able to get the pesky outbreaks under control.
Cheers to clear skin and drinking more water!
What are your go to skin care tips? Share your secrets!
so I am working on my next blog post I just wanted to share with you all a quick update on what is going on with my skin!
I was on an amazing vacation with my boyfriend and he pretty much taking a break from all technology except for my camera so I have some awesome pictures to share as well as my love my new found love for the ocean
While away on vacation I felt my skin didn’t look really good I have been trying to cover up the Dark spots on my face and although in pictures you can’t tail up close I just didn’t really feel As confident as I said as I should have.
I still was pretty diligent with my skin care routine while on vacation I made sure to use plenty of sunscreen Because I was in Vegas and California where the sun is a lot more intense than where i reside in Ohio.
I kept up my skin care routine.
When I arrived home from Vacation I did a mild face peel which you can find here. I love it! I don’t do very often maybe once a month.
Its that time of the year Spring break is in full season!
Whoo hoo! SPRING BREAK!!! ( Takes shot and smashes beer bottle on bar!)
That’s how I always imagined spring break would be if I had ever made it to some wild crazy place where the college kids go. Ahhh well, those dreams died pretty quickly when I became a mom at 20. I have to admit I have grown to be ok with avoiding the hangover that I am sure accompanies spring break during college.
What I am familiar with is Spring break and Motherhood, and I tell you what. Teachers deserve a RAISE. I know my son has this endless supply of energy and somehow teachers manage to keep a gaggle full of children calm enough to educate them!! That is surely some type of magical power.
We usually go out of town for Spring Break, but our work schedules have become a bit hectic. So I have decided to write 5 reasons why I love spring break.
Being able to watch Aviry play, often when school is in session he darts to Netflix or Youtube and it drives me nuts! What I get to see over Spring Break is he actually loves to play with his toys and has an extremely vivid imagination.
I enjoy the flexibility that comes along with spring break, I enjoy staying up late, and finding fun things to do, but HONEY let me tell you my son eats like a man and is a walking hurricane. With all this being said I wish that all of my days offered the same flexibility that Spring Break brings to my family.
Not having to catch the school bus when it’s dark outside.
Finding a new and fun place to go in the city. Although we weren’t able to go out of town this year I think its important to still find a place to have a blast at.
The day feels longer.
Does that make me crazy? I love when the day seems longer and time moves a little slower. It’s nice to not be in a rush to have dinner on the table by 6:30.
All I know is thank the Lord for Spring Break because its been nice to slow down a bit.
What do you do to keep your little ones occupied for spring break?
Aviry is growing as a student and I am so proud of him.
To be brief Aviry was in a classroom environment where he felt disliked and ignored. Eventually after many conferences the teachers and I got to learn and appreciate one another.
This was not an easy task at all. During that time I felt ignored and left out by the teachers in his class. I felt judged. I felt Aviry was unfairly judged.
I had wondered did other parents feel this way? Am I doing this parent/teacher relationship thing right?
I should have spoken up. I could have but that’s something I struggle with.
Not one of the teachers knew we had been staying in a hotel the first 3 weeks of the school year. We had just experienced an apartment fire. We were fine our belongings were fine but it was a few days before we could gather our belongings. Suddenly we were moving to a new apartment on a different side of town and a much longer morning commute.
It was a lot going on. It was a lot for me and I know it had an effect on Avirys grades.
On top of that I was in school and working part time. I was stretched pretty thin.
I had wished for more support from the teachers. I wanted them to take a moment to get to know us.
Eventually they did. They began to take us seriously when they saw the progression in Aviry. We chose to hire Aviry a tutor through Club Z tutoring and we began changing our habits at home and following a routine It really helped Aviry. It gave him confidence. His grades went up and he worked so hard!
I’m proud to see that my son is determined and able to set goals and achieve them.
I know Aviry will accomplish everything he sets his mind too. I pray he is happy, healthy and able to achieve whatever is in his heart.
It just feels good to know that I think I’m getting the hang of this Mom thing. ; )
